Snoxy
Here are some pics of our girls...and our girl It was quite difficult to get a photo of the girls standing altogether Ellin was very keen to have her photo taken This evening just before 8.15 pm the girls strutted up and down the run and after just a couple of minutes they went home to roost...amazing to watch The children were fascinated I've now put wood chips on the run floor so they'll have a surprise in the morning Do I let them into the run as soon as I can in the morning and just leave them to eat pellets and drink water? The chap from Omlet said I shouldn't give them treats in the morning. Thank you http://www.psitec.co.uk/picture_library/Girls_sml.jpg http://www.psitec.co.uk/picture_library/Eglu_sml.jpg http://www.psitec.co.uk/picture_library/ELMS_sml.jpg Edited April 8, 2008 by Guest
Phosphorus
Oh lovely pictures. I just can't wait now - wish I had got an Omlet man to build my cube now - still wouldn't have any chooks until a few more weeks anyway
Fur 'n' Feathers
They look lovely. We let ours out of the run at 7am just before going to work. They seem quite happy with that & it means we'll get a lie in till 7am on days off They'r happily taking themselves to bed. Ours are 18 weeks old and the poultry farmer when we picked them up told us not to give them treats like corn until they're laying as their systems won't have develoed fully till then & it can give them problems. Most people report they don't want much else till then anyway. Forum members suggest pm treats so they get their proper balanced food first. Stevie
I let mine out soon as its light which is currently around 5.40am,but im an early riser anyway and have to get up to walk my dog. They should start eating soon as they're let out of the Eglu and just ensure their glug & grub containers are well stocked.Treats should only be given in the afternoon after they've filled themselves on layers pellets and i found Marmite on toast really goes down a storm with chooks plus its good for them! Mine were squabbling over the Marmite! Yours is a fantastic colour!

Ain't Nobody Here
Lovely pictures . Advice above is spot on, pellets and water in the morning, treats in the afternoon (and once they start laying, they'll start eating loads more!)

Snoxy
Think one or more of girls is doing the 'korma' type poo...is it like this because they are settling in or should I be giving them something...Bokashi bran? I removed the newspaper I had put in the droppings tray last night...wow what a lot of poo for one night Was very easy to sort and I wiped off poo from a couple of the roosting bars too
