chanters
yes and the eyes start closing and they sort of smack their lips (Yes I know they have beaks but it's the best way to describe it ) That's exactly it!!!
chelsea
I've been kissing dogs since I was a toddler and im still alive! My current german shepherd gets more kisses than my husband!! im forever kissing and cuddling her. Chickens get regular cuddles from the both of us, I dont have "pecky" chickens so im quite safe from any injuries, my chickens are really adorable fluffy balls so I cant resist picking them up, cuddling them and then kissing them on the back of the head/neck. Cuddling, stroking and giving my pets affection brings down my blood pressure after a stressful day at work!
muzzie
Nope wouldn't entertain the idea I like having the use of both my eyes I try to keep my face out of striking range. I wash my hands after handling them so I would never put my mouth on them. I do kiss my dogs but not on the mouth.

Ain't Nobody Here
I do love their little warm fluffy heads - it's a shame they're too small to stroke . I love it when I hold a pot of corn and they all peck away, and their wee chins touch my fingers, it feels lovely .
SeasideChick
What a great subject! Well, today, I DID kiss my chooks - well two of them anyway! They are so cuuuute and so adorable ... and they follow me around and "chat" away to me ... I LOVE them!! I have always kissed my pets: cats, dogs, rabbits, guinea pigs, horses ... however, kissing the chooks today was a first!! hee hee!! I certainly didn't worry about getting pecked - just gave them a quick "peck" (geddit!) on their heads. I think you should kiss them if you want to and if you don't, then, don't!! moomin
Well I will kiss anything me. I draw the line at the cat when he has his mouth open as he has horrible smelly-fish breath. But I will kiss him on the nose. My guineapigs I will kiss on the lips, I have only had my chooks one day so as yet I have hardly handled them, but I am sure I will be kissing them too. Until I learn by my mistakes and loose an eye

Abbey Road Girl
It would be unethical to inform you all at this late date that you have been involved in a sociological experiment. Conclusion of experiment: Chicken kissing seems to be a common, though not universal, human activity. Thanks, everyone!
Trixabell
Really? or am i being really gullible??? ah whatever still love kissing the chooks!!

KimW
Noooooooooooooooooo, I worry about the germs and the kids would see me and start doing it!
SeasideChick
OK ... slightly changing the subject here Kim, but do all your 13 girls sleep together in 1 Eglu Cube??? I have 4 in mine, but they all huddle up together and it seems so big inside, I feel they'd be better of with more chooks around them!! I worry HORRENDOUSLY about germs .... but somehow, I just couldn't resist a quick peck on my girls' heads!! They're so cute ....
SeasideChick
oh, soz Kim, have just read that you have a wooden house too .... so .... derrr to me ... didn't read that bit first before I replied!!
KimW
Hi Karen, 11 of my hens sleep in the Cube but one is a Bantam. I looked into their sleeping area one evening and thought...........ooh, I had better not put anymore chooks in here. So I went out and got a cute little wooden house for the other four and it's in it's own run.

Gamebird
I've been around animals of one sort or another for most of my life and I have never had any allergies, upset stomach or any other problems asscoiated with cuddling and kissing them. I just love the smell of my horse and will bury my face in his neck and I frequently kiss my dog on the nose much to his embarrassment Not sure whether I would kiss my chickens - I'll let you know when I've managed to catch one!! SeasideChick
Ooooh, there is nothing quite like the smell of "horse". I used to have horses when I was a teenager (if only I could have one now ... but I've got 3 children instead!!!) .... in fact my children think I'm mad when I talk about just how wonderful my horses used to smell .... often used to kiss them on their muzzle ..... beautiful!!!! I have just got 4 chickens (2.5 weeks ago) and today, we got our VERY FIRST EGG!!! It's so exciting ..... I think little Babs deserves a little kiss!! HENthusiastic
Seaside: congratulations on your first egg! She does indeed deserve a kiss.... and some nice treats. That has reminded me..... "do you kiss your chooks".......... ohhhh yeeeees. But actually, has anybody ever kissed an egg??? I have! I've had my girls 4 weeks now and eggs still seem like little miracles and I often give the eggs small kiss (just on the shell you understand!) Scotty
Kissing a Chicken.... Sure nothing like snuggling into their feathers and kissing the top of their heads! in actual fact if I pick one hen up the others seem to line up for their go. HENthusiastic
Scotty: I notice you've got some rescue girls recently. Any chance of seeing some pictures of them? I'm due to get some in May. Are they settling in okay. Did they get on with each other, or were there fights to sort out a pecking order?
Scotty
They are getting on really well thankyou!. Feathers are beginning to grow back and we are up to 4 eggs a day now which I feel is a good sign that they are happy. There is definitely a pecking order, Margot although not the biggest is definitely in charge! and Flossy my little scraggy girl is the most outgoing and the first to come for a cuddle.... and kiss (he heheheee...) I thought I was going to have a pecking problem. Poor Flossy seemed to be the brunt of it but now they all seem happy and even pair off together Thankfully I can work from home so I let them free range all day until around 4pm and it's great when they come in for a chat... (in fact I currently have Margot sitting on the door mat and Barb is under my desk!) Its amazing how they rule your life isn't it... I will try to upload some photo's I just about managed to put my picture of the side here (that's Gerty by the way!) But thanks for asking - I LOVE IT!!!!
