I was just finishing cleaning out the droppings tray when the rain came down...being a novice chicken owner I didn't know what the girls would do...for a moment they sheltered then all 3 popped into the Eglu...clever girls

Yeah they are clever, some of them don't mind getting wet though so I have heard! Depends on the individual hen!

Mine used to stay out in it until they got soaked through, then they'd go and take shelter under the garden table. My chooks go in their house to sleep and to lay their eggs, other than that they are out all the time, in all weathers - even before their run had a roof.

 

Your chooks are definitely more clever than mine!!

mine dont seem to mind either, they are out soaking wet sometimes although they have a nice dry covered run

Lol we had heavy short hail storm here today. The Chikens were ok for a few seconds of it then they all charged uo the garden under the trampoline, so funny to watch running! they run under there or under the laurel bush, they only go back to the run to eat.

Ours stayed out in the great downpour then when the hail and snow started that was a little too much so went inside to preen and clean.

Velma is a right little housewife!
