over easy
i have got myself a metal bin to keep my layers pellets in now which is alot easier than trying to fill the grub when the feed was in the bags, anyway was thinking do you tip the feed in the bin or should i have kept it in the bag as i have seen somewhere the food can go sour. also should i only put one bag in at a time . Egluntyne
I keep mine in the bag in he bin....I wondered if the metal might "taint" the pellets. I also only put one bag in a a time......mindful of use by dates etc. It depends I suppose on how many hens you have and how quickly you get through a bag. Blackrocksrock
I have a plastic kitchen swing bin with a cracked lid which I replaced for the kitchen and keep my pellets in it but only 1 x 15kg bag at a time - its kept in the large kitchen cupboard which is dry and warm. I tipped the whole lot in and made a scoop with a 1 pint milk carton and use that to fill the grub every day.
Trish
I use an old dustbin, we kept ours when the whellie bins came in I knew I'd find a use for it. But we always empty the last dregs into another container before putting a new bag in.
