braden01
I'm not clear whether the eggs are OK to eat when worming our chickens. Please can someone advise? If not, how long do we need to throw them away for? Thanks!
Christian
As long as you give the prescribed dose, you can eat the eggs (is it 1g per hen per week)?
braden01
Thanks! It would be very sad to have to throw them away, particularly as one is off herlayy right now!
Treekeeper
You can eat them, but you can't give them away or sell them. The reason so I was told is that once they have left your control they could be given to pregnant women which may be harmful. Don't know how because during my first ever use of Flubenvet I inhaled so much of the powder I won't need worming for at least a year!!
Lisastyal
I am taking one of my hens to the vets tonight for the sniffles and I was going to ask about something to worm them. I've heard / read that flubenvet is good and does not need egg withdrawal but I am 7 and ahalf months pregnant so would you suggest I personally don't eat the eggs for a week a so? It wouldn't be a major problem as we dont get lots of eggs, maybe 4-5 a week. Your opinions would be well appreciated. Lisa x
Gallina
If eggs can't be sold after treatment, does this mean that battery hens never get treated for worms? I suppose, however, they would never be in a position to catch worms in the first place.
Treekeeper
As a precaution you should avoid eating eggs while the chooks are being treated with Flubenvet. I was told this by someone who has over 40 years of experience. Better to give up on eggs for a short time while you are hatching your own
