mrsm_jones
I have just found a soft shelled egg on the roosting bars. It was directly underneath Kiev, who was up on the perch. She has only been laying for 3 weeks. We already had eggs today from both our layers, so could this little softie be the first egg from one of our others? I only ask because it was about the size and colour of Kiev's normal ones.
Egluntyne
Impossible to say really. If it looks like one of Kiev's and she was standing over it, them it very likely was one of hers. Just a blip I expect.
Janepie33
Sounds like it. We had a selection of soft eggs in unusual places when our girls started laying, but they soon turned into normal eggs. Our girls also seemed slightly unwell for a few hours when they laid soft eggs. They went a bit puffed up and hunche over, but soon recovered. I think it's a bit of a hazard of chicken keeping. Good luck!
chelsea
We got a lot of softies and odd shaped eggs when our girls started laying. It should tail off eventually.
