Blue Araucana - photo's added

Recommended Posts

Finally photobucket is back up... :D:D

these have both been saved as message board, but they still look huge???

here are photo's of Snow Angel our new blue Araucana... looking a bit bald from the cockrell she was kept with

And here's one taken with Root (cream legbar) who was also released from a life with an over vigorous cockrell

We've got bumper bits on all our girls as we've had problems and thought this was the time to add our blue egg girls as we lost our columbine. It's really strange but things have settled down so quickly... is it because these two have had cockrells to contend with?

They look a bit scraggy at the moment, but I'm sure they will recover soon... any one know how long they will lay fertilized eggs for... dumb question, sorry

They'll feather up and look lovely soon.

The Araucana is defintely a lavender bird.. much too light for blue.

I'd like a blue one one day - it's such a lovely colour. My araucana/poland cross is a sort of blue colour with a white topknot - she's very pretty.

Here is Lavinia looking a bit smarter:

Those pictures were taken when I'd just got them and they were quarantined in an old rabbit hutch.

they are lovely... such pretty girls.

I think you are right about Snow Angel being a Lavender, however I am not going to argue that with the breeder. I foolishly had the debate on the phone that Araucanas were white but laid blue eggs and she told me in no uncertain terms that the bird was blue aswell. I didn't realise they cam in different flavours

Ah well, If Mrs Todd thinks she's blue then she's blue (just maybe lavender between you and I  )

She looks rough at the moment, but i can't wait for her new feathers. The breeder has also clipped their primary and secondary wing feathers, so she really doesn't look to pretty right now
