yelsel20
Hi Everyone, I am very new to hen keeping, just two months, and am having the time of my life with my girls. Question for you. Can you eat the first laid eggs from hens? An acquaintance has today told me that you should not eat the first eggs laid and I wonder if this is fact or fiction. (Too late for me - already consumed them - yummy!) If true, what is the reasoning behind it? Happy hen keeping. Edna Olive Mabel

Jules.
We fried & ate our first egg within a couple of hours of it being laid. It was twins too!
redfrock
it would be a terrible waste not to eat them wouldn't it ... after all they have gone to so much trouble
Ain't Nobody Here
Never heard that one before . Welcome to the forum, by the way, Yelsel20 . I can't imagine why the first egg would be different to the others . Different maybe if it was a softie .
