My girls don't get all that many - they usually have a handful of mixed corn a day, and maybe half a dozen dried meal worms.... but only in the afternoon! They certainly aren't fat birds.

Today I also gave them a crust of stale bread, it was only small and they went mad for it  Because it's so hot, I'd love to give them some sweetcorn later to cool them down and get some liquid down them (they are drinking, but it's always nice to see them get a little extra hydration and the sweetcorn is in unsalted and unsweetened water). Will this be a treat too many?

Well mine usually get a handfull of corn, handful of mealworms, few grapes and a plate of nice things before bedtime (mix of sweetcorn, pasta or soggy bread or rice, or tuna or spinach or lettuce) - you get the picture

So I'm sure your girls will be okay enjoying an extra treat occasionally. I make sure mine eat nothing but mash until after lunch then they can have treats - and mine lay an egg each every day

Thanks  I normally wouldn't be so strict but Queeny has only just started laying (we've had three eggs from her now - one arrived this morning!!!), so I'm trying to keep her on a good diet! She eats a lot

grapes are a firm favourite of mine, and they only get them in the afternoon. They argue over who's got the biggest one though.. they like tomoato as well.. not to mention everything else you mentioned. They are little piglets at the moment. :D
