It's arrived!

Recommended Posts

My cube is here - supposed to have been tomorrow, so it was very lucky that OH was here at the time. The delivery man wasn't interested in helping him carry the parcels through and the boxes are very heavy, so I can't imagine what would have happened if the delivery was on time for me to take it all in.

Still at least it is nice and sunny and we can put it up to see how we can fit the permanent patch around it.

Apparently our neighbour with the vicious hound from Hell saw the delivery, so the cat may be out of the bag as far as keeping mum about the chickens! OH thinks we should tell her anyway. I think I'll leave it for him to do, because she likes him - she flirts so much that it is a two fingers down the throat kind of gushy - yuk!

As far as the other side with the cats goes, I think they know now. We had a friend pop in yesterday, and she is not the quietest talker on earth and while we were in the garden she asked where the girls would be kept. At the time Mr Next door was rummaging about by the fence. Oh well, it was going to happen sooner or later.

Off to pick up DD

The girls are supposed to be ready around the beginning of June - I need to check to see if all is well - who knows, perhaps if I'm lucky, the end of the month. It's all getting exciting now.

At least DD has forgotten about Star, Trek and Spock for names - that's a relief - still THAT would not happen anyway. I have told her she can choose between Eccles, Spotty Minnie Bannister and Bluebottle (The Goons) - hers would be Minnie (being a Splash Orpie), OH would have Eccles (Buff Orpie, sort of cake colouring I suppose) and my Black Orpie is Bluebottle and well suits the colouring too. Or nicer - Cheyenne, Apache and Sioux, the Splash would be Apache. I figured as there were lots of tribes I wouldn't be short of names when adding more - a Cream Legbar would be called Mohawk! Tweedle, Dee and Alice sound good - I wouldn't go as far as shouting Dum around the garden though! :D

It has been so wet lately (still boggy in parts of the garden) that I haven't been able to tackle the boundary fence area. Next door has a hedge and because they got a dog added a fence on their side of the hedge - didn't stop it coming in our garden though, so they added a bigger one. So we need to put one on our side just to make double sure it can't get in after the girls and an added fox deterrent too. I have a lovely big patch of bitter cress for the girls to tackle when they free range! I am getting lazy with weeds already!!

All great ideas seem to meet obstructions, and last night was no exception - too much ferrying around of offspring and then late dinner meant no assembly of cube. Decided to do it today but yet another setback - OH called away on business, but should be back later on, so we (hopefully) will tackle it later. I think a takeaway is on the cards tonight!
