surferdog
Thought Roxy had been quiet for ages, apparently she's worked out how to get in the netting but not how to get out. At least she had the good grace to look embarrassed And luckily for her the raptors are still in their pen..... Chickens and dogs - worse than toddlers! At least you can send them to playgroup..... (the toddlers not the chickens sadly)

surferdog
Hi Paola, I'm the other side of town in Kempshott. Good to know there's another chicken owner near by. Hampshire felt like a chicken-free zone when I was looking to get mine!

frenchlayer
Hello all. I am new to the board, but used it so much when researching my chickens. So now I have them and need help I came back here. Typical isn't it once you get them the questions start rolling. Looking at your lovely (but daft) dog trapped behind that netting, it's a question about the netting. Do you leave your chickens unattended behind it, or just when you are in the garden and about. I have made a run, which is 2m x 7m with three chickens, but they are already making big progress at eating everything, (I thought it would keep them going for 6 weeks, but now I can see not, so I was thinking of extending it but didn't know whether something like that would be suitable. They are well protected at the moment, but didn't know whether mr fox would have difficulty with the netting because it moves so much. Any advice would be appreciated. many thanks. Hello and soit le bienvenu! I doubt that the netting would stop a hungry fox for even a minute. I recommend spending some time reading on this forum about the experiences of others. The fox must not be underestimated.
frenchlayer
Dear Rachel. Many thanks. I have decided to go belt and braces, and build a larger substantial run. Got an absolute bargain yesterday 28 x 2m metal curtain poles for the equivalent of 10 pence each so bolting those together to make a lovely frame, and covering properly with fox proof netting. a bientot.
