abwsco
Mine have arrived today BUT I can't see how far I'm supposed to fill it Instructions say fill upto the vertical fill line pre moulded into the product. Is this right up to the top as the only vertical lines I can see go all the way to the top I know I should probably have just contacted the makers but thought this would be quicker. Thanks
Jules.
I had exactly the same problem last year I phoned them ( felt a bit of a plonker), & they told me there is no line, & so I put warm water in to about 1/3 from the bottom as advised. The flitrap worked fine. I had to empty it earlier this year but it does the job well

I should have phoned them yesterday I suppose but had had one of those days at work and it carried on when I got home
Jules.
How full have you filled it?
Guest
I think DH filled ours about 1/2 way up but he said it came with instructions when I asked him and he can't remember exactly how much water he put in but, as I say, I seem to remember it was 1/2 full. It'll evaporate eventually, ours is as dry as a bone now, so he's changing it t'row
Jules.
Is it in a sunny spot too? It needs warmth to work.
abwsco
Jules, we'd filled it just to under the holes I've just poured some of the excess water out and hoped for the best. Also, I have moved it to a better position in the garden. There are a few small flies in it now but no blue ones as they've disappeared now as it's gone cooler. Poet, bet that's a yucky job There are some instructions but they don't say how much water Thanks both for your help
Egluntyne
The smell is indescribable when you come to empty it. Also I found that I couldn't look an an Eccles cake for weeks.
abwsco
Also I found that I couldn't look an an Eccles cake for weeks. LOL's Egluntine. My Mum always used to call them fly cemetries anyway BTW the bluebottles(small) are back and completely ignoring it It's only the small flies which are attracted to it. Do you think I need to cut my losses and start again with the powder and water?
Jules.
I'd give it a bit longer- flies attract flies apparantely, & my flitrap took about a week to get going.
abwsco
Thanks Jules Will give it a bit longer and see how it goes.
Jules.
Is it working now? I came back from a few days holiday on Friday & mine is full of flies now where the water was
arowland17
We fill ours to about the 4th ridge up with warm water and have to swirl it everyday at the beginning as the powder seems to settle - as soon as there's a few flies in it though they all go crazy for it, the sunny weather we had a couple of weeks ago resulted in it going from empty to half full with flies in about 4 days!! Also we cleaned ours out once last year and it was such a horrible experience we just buy the empty containers now and chuck the whole thing away! I'd forgotten to do an update I've 2 that are really attracting the flies and 1 that isn't as yet but then the weather has gone cooler since I put that one up. One of ours looks rather full as well now:vom:

Jules.
There's a whole thread somewhere about emptying it, with a great tip about emptying the contents straight into a jam jar & sealing the jar immediately. . It wasn't that bad- I just breathed through my mouth!
