Keanie Bean
Hello, Me again with another query. Yesterday Luna was in the nest box for hours. She wasnt agressive when we got her out and didnt fluff herself up at all so I dont think she is just broody. I considered she might be egg bound as she spent hours on the nest, so with gloved finger put some olive oil in and around her vent. I couldnt feel any egg but didnt go too far, I didnt want to hurt her. Today she has been very sleepy but has not visited the nest box at all. I gave her a bath and blow dry to help relax her, but now she seems a bit listless and still sleepy. Her poo is normal and I have seen her eat and drink, so now I'm stuck as to the problem. Any advice? I'm well and truly stuck. Thanks, Sarah.x
The Dogmother
Hmmm, those symptoms could be anything at this stage. Is she eating? What colour is her comb? Does she feel hot or thin? At this stage I'd suggest getting some Avipro, adding it to water or porridge and trying to get her to eat. If she hasn't improved in 24 hours, then take her to the vet - the sleepy thing is worrying.
Keanie Bean
Thanks Claret, Her comb is perfectly red and she is eating and drinking ok. she doesnt feel hot at all and doesnt feel thin either. I'm wondernig if its just a softie on its way now. Hopefully she'll perk up. I'll try the porridge and have a look on the net for the Avipro. Thanks again, Sarah.x
The Dogmother
Sorry not to be much help, but it's all a bit non-specific. You might find Avipro is cheaper at your vet - mine is.
Keanie Bean
I've tried the porridge and she loved that so her appetite is still there which is a good sign. I'm having trouble too as its all a bit wishy washy, but shes definately not right. I think I'll give her a day or so to see if she perks up. They seem to do that sometimes it seems. Ain't Nobody Here
Hope Luna perks up soon, Sarah. Molly worried me a few months ago by standing with her eyes closed quite often - she soon stopped and was back to normal. I think if her appetite is OK, she can't be feeling too bad?
