That one-legged chicken

Recommended Posts

Hmmmmm.

They have done this more for themselves than for her.

She looks happy enough, red comb etc, but I wouldn't give much for her chances against a fox.

Would her eggs still be edible....if indeed she was till capable of laying?

My first reaction Eglutine was hmmmm - you beat me to it.

I must admit I'm not sure that I would do this, not so much the money, although I wonder if they have insurance. A chickens life is not a very long one is it? Is it really worth doing this, when it would probably have a shorter life anyway?

I think it would be different with a cat or dog as they live longer lives (although when my old dog was 13 they thought she had cancer and wanted to start her on chemotherapy before even being sure it was cancer, I said no.) I didn't think it was fair. As it turned out it wasn't cancer anyway.

I'm surprised they haven't had her cloned

Poor thing, she doesn't understand that the treatment is supposed to make her better so will be suffering I'm sure. They are only delaying the inevitable. I was beside myself when the vet put Cheeky to sleep, but it was the best thing for her, despite my feelings. I feel this almost borders on animal cruelty. I'm sure if it were going on in a lab somewhere there would be a petition against it all, but that's my view.
