stoice
I've had 4 ex-batts for a week now. They all look a little 'oven ready' at the moment but the two chooks at the bottom of the pecking order are looking the most bald due to the fighting and settling in. I'm going to get some anti pecking spray for their feathers but I'd like to know if this will work on their combs? They have little dark red blood spots peppered all over them where the bossy two hens peck at them. Will this work? I don't want them to keep doing it so they draw a lot of blood as I have heard of cannibalism amoungst chickens. Or am I over-fussing? LOL New to all this.javascript:emoticon('')
Egluntyne
Welcome to the forum. Congratulations on rescuing ex-batts. It might work. you would have to be careful not to get it in their eyes though. I have used gentian violet on a bleeding comb before. That worked well as it is slightly antiseptic too. I got it from a local equestrian shop. I dabbed it on rather than spraying it. Christian
You could try diluted tea tree oil dabbed on with some cotton wool. They hate the taste of that too!
