kaylis1980
well i didnt get hissed at this morning they still wouldnt come out of the house while i was faffing around in the run sorting the feeders (again ) i will have to take a proper picture of the house, im so cross with myself, i made a phonecall yesterday and said about how its advertised as 9 birds - and she said "9 bantams" why didnt i realise that??? she said "it is definatly big enough for 5-6 ex batts" so i pointed out that they wouldnt be able to move after the feeders are in the run- and she started selling me a different product nice try darlin mummy hen- if i could FIT in my run i still wouldnt have room to sit unfortunatly lol. mrs bertie- no it is definatly the one i purchased, all the others are a different style- i thought i had got a bargain clearly not. but i didnt want to pay much as i have all intentions of making a switch to a cube when it starts getting colder. Phosphorus
Wow Sarah, have just caught up with this. 3 eggs already as well - brilliant. I love the piccies of the poor girls without much for knickers They will come round before you know it - they are just a bit shell shocked probably by it all at the moment. You wait, they will change so much over the coming weeks. Sorry to hear about the housing. Just keep thinking Cube
Egluntyne
Lovely pics. My ex-batts had bare botties two months ago. Now they are all wearing frilly knickers. It is amazing how quickly they feather up.
kaylis1980
thats amazing eglutine, i was thinking it would be much longer than that! anyway i just went out there to "muck out" since they were all d/s, i didnt shut the run door as they hav been so skitty with me i figured they would stay d/s. moved the nest over as they have been roosting on the sides and sleeping in it which means pooh all over it. typical so i have taken the nest box frame off and left the straw, plastic egg and a plastic tray underneath- as i did this, one of the rogues came u/s burst through the door and promptly pecked me on the finger i also noticed quite a few feathers on the run floor, about 7 or so, is this just the pecking order being established now they have stopped being polite?? BeckyBoo
Hi there, re your hen house, does it actually SAY bantams in the advertising? If it doesn't you'd have a good case for getting your money back and buying something else (or getting OH to knock up an emergency walk-in run ) I wouldn't assume bantams at all if it said however many hens. In fact we took on four chickens once from someone who couldn't keep them anymore and I assumed they were standard hens only to fin when we got there that they were bantams. We took them anyway, altho small is not really my thing, but they should have been specific on their advertising. Mrs B
kaylis1980
i got it from here http://albanyproducts.com/index.htm is a local company- i brought from the website but its not listed on there anymore. i noticed their ebay listings DO say bantams though- grrr. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Duck-Chicken-House-Rabbit-Hutch-WITH-STORAGE-AREA-011_W0QQitemZ360053345907QQihZ023QQcategoryZ63513QQtcZphotoQQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp1742.m153.l1262 looking at it now, i think i just assumed it was bigger by the pictures. my own fault. nevermind *when* i get a cube, i can always keep it in the garage and doctor it to be a broody cage....
