sorry for horrible topic! but having had a recent fox attack I wondered whether there could be any merit in putting dog poo around (not too close, under bushes etc) the chicken run and the places I know they like to go??

at the moment I pick up after my dog on a daily basis, and put the contents into the local dog bin...

I wouldnt-purely on health grounds..

 

Dog poo is stacked full of bacteria and isnt healthy to leave it lying around.Its urine could be enough with the added bonus of being inconspious and regulary renewed.

Lion poo is supposed to work, but as our local rec is frequented by foxes AND dog owners who are too lazy/ignorant/inconsiderate to pick up after their dogs I'd say it's probably not terribly effective.

Might work for about 10 seconds but not for a determined fox. They are very sharp and will quickly work out that the actual dog is not around.

 

The fox that attacked my chickens was waiting for the moment my dog got up and walked into the house and within 10 seconds all hell was let loose. Luckily it had a good ending but a lesson well learnt.

I'm actually very relieved to hear that this is a bad idea, because it didnt really appeal!!!!

now, our local zoo sells lion poo... maybe that could deter the dog as well!

How about **Silent Roar** which is like granulated lion poo.

 

It is designed to get rid of cats but is reported to work against foxes, although this is anecdotal only.

 

It does need to be reapplied after rain.

 

I get mine at a local garden centre.
