Lapinou
Hi I'm new here, and about to order our eglu so very excited! We think we need to make a permanent space for it in our garden, but don't think we have room (well, in order to leave space for our children to play!) for the recommended size of the woodchip area. Can someone please explain why it needs to be so much larger than the area you need for the eglu on it's own? If we can get away with an area that will just fit the eglu in, we'll be fine, and would like to be able to make an informed decision but my inexperienced mind, at the moment, can't understand why the area needs to be so large! Thanks Lapinou x ps. Am planning on letting them free-range whenever we're at home (which is most of the time) once we've got protection over our veg. Christian
If you edge it with log roll as per the website details, you need to leave enough room at one end to open the run door and the other to get the droppings tray out.
Lapinou
Ok, so can you just make sure the woodchips are flush with the top of the edging? The edging is just to keep the woodchips from spreading over the garden isn't it?
Christian
The edging is just to keep the woodchips from spreading over the garden isn't it? Yep! (unless they kick it out of the run onto the grass)
poachedegg
We used Decking Boards and painted them green - much cheaper than edging with Log Roll.
Gallina
Has anyone tried the Omlet Link-a-board for edging? I am thinking of getting some. Does it fit the standard cube run with one extension exactly? I would be fed up if it didn't meet properly at the corners. Lapinou
We were thinking of just getting treated timber planks rather than the edgeing omlet suggest. The link-a-bords seem like an expensive option...
