Wireless Router

Recommended Posts

A couple of weeks ago we set up a wireless network using my son's broadband connection. I use Mac Airport and DH bought a receiver. Son has complained to me today that his broadband speed is really slow since we set it up :( he told me that he used to download a film in 4/5 hours and it now takes 9 days :shock: Is it possible that the network we created could have slowed down his speeds, he is only on 2 megs anyway, or is he just having a moan :roll:

There was an interesting news article on the 'wireless' this morning about the variation in download speeds for broadband connections. For a decent sized town, Banbury is the pits fro internet broadband speed/connections - they need to replace the exchange, but haven't done so yet. It causes us havoc at work.

I'll ask my techie friend about this, but I guess that it 'dilutes' the signal, although theoretically you're supposed to be able to get loads of users all online simultaneously - we certainly can at our office in Cardiff, but perhaps we just have a 'stronger' router there.

Nice to see you back Richard :)

We're using the Belkin wireless G+ MIMO router and we're with virgin for our broadband which is fast but can be unreliable at times.

We are using exactly the same set up, Belkin router and Virgin Broadband.

I wonder why ours is so rubbish with only 3 people using it, only two people really as DH rarely goes online. Oh well.
