Neighbours - I need advice - UPDATED

Recommended Posts

i could always plant something fast growing next to it, like a budleigh or a lavatera to provide more cover...

Sounds ideal. :-)

Lucky you having a Sealyham......you must be one of only a very few in the country!!!

Yes, I feel lucky - and you are right. They have gone out of fashion since the 1950s. But they are wonderful: handsome, spirited, highly intelligent and affectionate, compact, muscular, fearless and excellent watchdogs, with a "big dog" bark (not a yap), long-lived, their coat doesn't shed on the furniture.

Was having a nightmare with one noisy chicken and one broody one - took advice from here to open the henhouse door at exactly the same time each morning and that seems to have worked for the noisy one. As for Mrs Broody - got fed up with taking her out of the nesting box all day long so....shut the nesting box up all day long for about 5 days and squirted her underside once a day with a plant spray (with water in it!) - this led to Mrs Noisy jumping ship to the vege patch in order to lay her eggs (and eat all our new bean plants - boo)

anyway, felt like chaos for a few days, but we stuck with it and now have Mrs Quiet in the mornings and Mrs Unbroody-but-not-yet-laying-again

It is like looking after children!
