White things on egg this morning, red mite eggs?????

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Collected eggs this morning, i noticed one of them on one side had what i can only describe as perhaps mite eggs, they were very small white and round came off when i s"Ooops, word censored!"ed them off, the egg had only been laid about half hour before so could this have happend after egg was laid?

Ive only had my chickens a week some of you may have seen my naughty dog and chickens thread

I put some diatom powder in coop and kind of sprnkled chickens with red mite powder last week but was gonna give them a proper dowsing tomorow when i clean them out.

Could these be some kind of eggs on my eggs if so do you think this this could of happend before egg was laid or do you think is something to do the the egg shell.?????

Thanks

Hi, are you sure it just wasn't part of the shell colour ? my pepper lays eggs with white speckles at the end. If you s"Ooops, word censored!"e the egg just after it has been layed, you can s"Ooops, word censored!"e the colour off- it must take a little while to 'set' Not sure if that would happen after half an hour though, could they be little calcium deposits ?

I would think calcium too....

Take a look at the pictures of strange eggs on the Omlet guide. I've had all of these in the last year plus a few wierd others. The eggs inside are fine by the way.

Last night some naughty kids were letting off fireworks in the park near me and this morning Henny laid a long, big egg round at both ends (no point). The shock I expect.
