I need advice.

Is it ok to keep chicks on soil?

We have built a 3m x 3m wire run to put cube inside.

Do we need to floor it?

Yes it is , but watch out for rats and foxes attempting to tunnel in from the outside.

we built our run on a surround of concrete and bricks so nothing could tunnel inside. We left the earth in the middle of the run and cover the earth in aubiose for the chooks to scratch around in.

Mine are on soil in a permenant runb,which is bricked in so nothing can tunnel in there.

But I do have a good deep layer of Aubiose,which breaks down the poo ,stops smellsgives them more to dig in & looks pretty good too

I have a permanent run arriving soon plus a cube. I am putting mine down on grass, should I let the hens peck and trash the ground first or put Aubiose in straight off?

It is beautiful sweet, thick, luscious grass! Even though it is the bottom of the garden it is a lovely site!

Hi!!

I have a pink cube in a permenant run which is based on soil. We just dug about 3 feet down and put lots of wire and rubble in the borders to discourage anything digging in....

Thanks for all of the advice and reassurance.

We have buried welded mesh around run and put slabs ontop on one side and flower tubs one the other. so should be ok.
