I know that young birds have small combs that grow as they mature; combs go redder when the hen is coming into lay, and a poorly bird's comb is a bit flacid...

So... how do I read Daphne's comb which has gone a bit like Feather's Magraw (from Wallace and Gromit's "The Wrong Trousers") - it is reddish pink, bouncy and looks OK, but it has started to flop over right at the tips. She is the first of ours to lay, she is bouncing with food searching energy and looks fine. Is it just the way she's maturing?

I'm not worried about her as she is definitely OK, but I was wondering how a comb goes when they are off colour?

Thanks

Jill
