Louise
Its a cryptosporidium outbreak I would advise anyone with small children to not allow them to drink tap water till it is sorted and the same for elderly and anyone with a chronic illness as this is a really nasty bug It usually originates from Sheep but it is one of the few parasites that will hapilly infect just about anything There is no treatment as such apart from making sure you stay hydrated you just have to wait for nature to take its course
little cluckers
My six year old had cryptosporidium in November and he was so poorly, we thought it was 'the bug' at first but it just kept coming back- he now has a milk intolerance- poor little fella. He has always had a very low immune system and catches everything going so it hopefully wouldn't be as nasty in a healthier person. (Don't want to scare anyone- sorry )We were only commenting at the weekend that he's just managed to put all his weight back on, that's why I wanted to warn as many people as possible to avoid any unneccessary illness!! Tottya
Luckily im in a safe part of Northants but oddly enough my son has had dicky tum for few days now and so have a family I know that live in thrapston and also couple of other local people so bt worried Heard it on Jaggar and Woody this morning then when I got into work at local hospital it was the talk of the day. Bottled water shortage for obvious reasons, schools being closed total british chaos...... Apparantly dont filter your water either as that takes the chlorine out that actually kills it. Hope anyone that is affected isnt suffering too much, lets hope it dosent take months.... Think youll get a water rebate?!?!!?!!! Best Wishes
Louise
Filtering with a domestic filter won't take the parasite ou it is too small I don't think standard amounts of chlorine will kill it either which is why it is such a problem I have a parasitologist friend who cleans his preps of this stuff by washing them in bleach and they survive
