Butty
Hi everyone lovely weather!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Were's the summer gone??? Could you let me know what you give as treats and when you give them? Do they need to be in a container or just scattered on the ground? Thanks
Yolky
I have ordered a treat ball from the omlet shop to come with the chickens. I thought it would be a good way to give them treats and will take longer for them to eat so hold a bit more interest.
Faye&Ant
Hi, weather isn't too bad here, do you have rain? My girls stampede as soon as they see me at the back door so 9 times out of 10 the treats dont get a chance to go in a dish. However if its pasta or potatoes I put it into something as that could get messy I scatter meal worms in the mud so they can dig for them.Corns - I chuck the cobs, half a cob per girl and that is stripped in seconds, grapes and toms I tend to hand them equally so the greedy girls dont gobble them all. Then as soon as its all gone they scarper back to digging around, not so much as a thanks
moomin
I would try anything - but in moderation If they are young chickens they will ignore half of it. But Faye is right if you scatter them on the ground they will take longer to eat and give them more enjoyment - mine love sweetcorn (tinned), but with low/no salt & sugar, dried mealworms from any garden centre or petshop - lovely and lushious and crunchy Chuck a handful up in the air and it will keep them occupied for all of 5 seconds!! And mashed spud in a bowl - they love it. And grapes, whole, they will peck at them to get them into bits.
