Guest Posted June 27, 2008 Share Posted June 27, 2008 Yep - I knew James' class were hatching eggs in an incubator, and I knew they were planning to get a coop and keep the chooks (well not ALL of the boys!). Chatting to the head today and they are awaiting a fabulous, funky luxury coop in the form of a BLUE CUBE! They have been told there is a delay though due to demand and are not sure when it will be coming. I've told them I'm happy to loan them my Eglu and run if the chicks are ready for that level of accomodation before the cube arrives, acutally I could lend them my new purple cube as it's not in use yet BUT I don't have a run with that and they need a run. James has gone from being in a class of 18 to a class of 27 as overall numbers have dropped so they have to go from 5 classes to 4. He is now in a class made up of year 1 & 2 children. We had OFSTED in Thursday and Friday of this week for our 7th monitoring visit under special measures and we're OUT as satisfactory with good elements. one of the inspectors was particularly impressed by our hens and ducks and how secondary school children respond so well to them, giving them "a much needed moral message." I was chatting to the head (I'm a governor) and she said they have all the risk assessments ready to hand out to the usual moany parent. (isn't their always at least 1?). James' class has had the incubator in, the chicks are due to hatch out early next week. They have been donated by a farmer whose daughter is in James' class so he will take any boys that are surplus etc. Mind you they could keep a cock as they are going to be housed far enough away from homes, there are fields to 2 sides of the school and a road to the front, the Eglu will be nearest to fields and the nursery nextdoor rather than close to the nearest houses.
