Feeding advice for bantams (one broody, one moulting)

I'm sorry if this has been discussed in a previous thread, but I was out yesterday preparing the Eglu and run for the arrival of "the girls". I know the holes at the front of the eglu are for ventalation, but I couldn't help to wonder...Don't they cause the inside of the Eglu to have a draft?

Not at all, they just provide ventilation so that the chooks are comfortable inside and there's no build-up of ammonia. They are really warm and snug as a bug when they're all in together.

the eglu is perfectly designed. Chickens need to have ventilation for good health etc. They wont be draughty - that is if you shut the door at night!

I thought so, but as the girls arrival gets closer I've gotten more nervous. I feel I did all the research as I was on-line for months (Prudence made me) before I made the commitment to keep hens, (I want them to be happy and healthy) I was just starting to think that before I made the commitment I might have only seen the positive and now with the immenant arrival I have so many more questions. Is this common? Am I just being overly cautious?

no, you are not alone. Everyone has lots of worries and questions. We were all in the same boat once.

 

After time you do learn to relax a bit and not worry so much.
