Egluntyne
Yep. I used to worry about it too but then someone pointed out to me that their ancestors and farmyard colleagues experience (d) wind and rain occasionally. They will dash back into the Cube, or shelter under it if they really dislike it.
chickenanne
They'll be fine - so long as the inside of your cube stays dry (i.e. the rain isn't coming in the open door) for when they roost at night it won't matter. They can look really dramatically WET after rain, but honest, they'll be OK.
Abbey Road Girl
Chickens are ancient and sturdy survivors. They may outlast us!
Janepie33
We got our cube in May and have never ever closed the door. We have a shower curtain over the run so that our girls stay dry and I have noticed that 2 of our girls sleep right at the front of the cube, looking out over the ladder. Before we had the cube, we had an eglu and again we never closed the door (we are not early risers!) and even through the coldest, wettest months, our girls stayed snug and warm. They just snuggle up when it is cold and keep away from draughts. They are not stupid!
chelsea
in December 2006 we went to Dartmoor in our caravan (mad I know!) and it was the weekend when there was 100mph winds (lots of destruction down in the south west etc), anyway back then I used to leave my eglu door open when we went away, well we survived the night (my goodness it was windy)...came home expecting the chickens to be blown to Dorset and they were completely fine! There you go - I can say "my eglu and hens have withstood 100mph winds"!
ajm200
Ours stand outside in the pouring rain until they are soaked and its done no harm so far. A soaking wet chicken is an amusing sight. They go all spikey, very cute.
