is it to be a cube or not

Recommended Posts

If you have the money, then a Cube is fantastic.

I have a Cube, and I'm really happy with it. I also have an Eglu, which was delivered last week, which I'm using to house two new Littlees until they are big enough to join the ig Girls.

Although I love the shape of the Eglu, I found myself wishing I'd orered a second Cube instead (couldn't justify the cost of that though).

The Cube is soooooo much better, and soooooo much easier to use. It doesn't take up much more space than an Eglu, but gives much more space to the Girls at much less damage to the grass (because the Eglu sits on the ground and destroys the grass it sits on surprisingly quickly).

I have both, and my vote would DEFINITELY be for the Cube.

You'll see that others have a similar view, and others have an opposing view,

I love my cube but I've never owned an eglu. I like the fact that it's raised up so no stooping down to empty the poo trays or collect eggs and everything is at waist height for cleaning. The girls have room to shelter under the cube itself in weather like this.

There is a large nesting area for sychronised egg laying too.

I really love the shape of the eglu for originality but for practicality I love my cube.

I was an eglu owner until last month- I got more hens & so I thought that they needed more room.

The eglu is soooo cool, & great for first time chook keepers. Likewise the cube- my advice would be that if you think there is a remote possibility that in the future you will get more hens then go for the cube.

Mine is a reconditioned one, cost £50 less than a normal one & came quite quickly compared to the wait for a new one. It just depends what is in stock at the time.

I prefer the cubes. I started off with a cube and then got an aglu for the bantams. Some people who started off with eglus have said in the past that they prefer the eglus. It could have something to do with what people got used to first.
