batty hen
Well we've finally done it. After weeks of reading this forum, attending a hen party (which was great fun and very informative) and looking at all the pros (me) and cons (LSH) we are going to get some chooks. The first plan was to offer a home to ex-batts. We ordered a cube (coming 8th August) and got our names on the BHWT waiting list and are waiting to hear back. I know this can be a lengthy process and patience isn't my best virtue soooo this afternoon I rang Omlet and ordered two girls. Being sensible they are going to arrive after we come back from our holiday at the end of August, well in 51 days to be eggsact. Now I can't wait. I'm sitting here with a stupid grin and making another shopping list. Though what I've started goodness only knows - what happens when ex-batts finally arrive. Should they go into temporary accommodation whilst being integrated or should the omlet girls move out to give them more room in the cube (hopefully getting 4 ex-batts). Can Eglu's be hired for temporary introduction periods? Aaagh! Thank goodness I can count on you all to help and advise. Only 49 sleeps until they arrive
cluckbok
sorry being nosy, but whose hen course did you go on? We run the courses aswell and I say to the people it's good idea to come on this forum cause it's so great. But obviously will not know if someone who came on one of our courses is on here unless I know there nickname. That's great news about your chooks, the time will go quick! Welcome to the forum by the way!
batty hen
I went to Sharon Eversfield in Reading. It was absolutely pooring with rain so probably the worst conditions to consider becoming chicken owners - didn't put us off though, not a bit. Really very well worth going.
