Kazoo
Hi everyone, Day 2 with chickens and suddenly Miss Pepperpot has started pacing backwards and forwards, pecking at the run as if she desperately wants to get out. I have fed them rather a lot of sultanas today - could this be it?? has anyone else had this problem?? Cheers
Egluntyne
They quickly learn to guilt trip you by pacing when they see you. Best to ignore it, otherwise you will make a rod for your own back. Too many sultanas will give them the squitts.
cluckbok
Yeah Egluntine is right, I wouldn't give too many sultanas and definately wouldn't let them out yet, pacing or not. Ours "whinge" when we are out in the garden to come out but we only let them out when it's free range time later in the afternoon. They do make you feel guilty but they are like children and have to be in a routine! Good luck with your chooks and welcome to this great forum! jlo
Agree with the others. Definitely don't think that it is a good idea to let them out too early, tempting though it is - especially when you start getting told off by them for keeping them in! Kazoo
To be honest, it hadn't crossed my mind to let them out as I have the five day rule firmly fixed in my head , just thought it was a bit odd. She settled down eventually and although tonight she was last in their house, whilst Florence was already tucked up with her nightie on, she seemed settled, so I'm not worried any more. Thanks for all your advice, maybe she was just being friendly wanting to have a roam.....not yet little lady!!
Tilly Bud
My Miss Pepperpot LOVES raisins. I mean she LOVES them! I think she's addicted. She's a cupboard lover and she only wants me for my red box of raisins! She could eat a box a day, but i'm not letting her. How much is enough? I don't want to over feed her but i do love seeing her happy with raisins in her beak!
Guest
she might have had some tummy ache? more likely she was expecting more treats.
