nicnoc
I have posted one message and now can't find it - I don't know what I am doing. Will some one reply even if they don't know the answer - just so I know I am doing this right? I have three Miss Pepperpots: Eggatha, Tracy Beaker and Attilla the Hen. Eggatha and Attilla are laying lovely dark brown speckeldy eggs, whereas Tracy's are long and thin and matt and look rather strange. She has been laying for a month now and no change. She is definitely the lowest in the pecking order but there is no sign of bullying or pecking. Is this normal? Although they are all Miss Pepperpots, she is slightly different to the others - even though she is the youngest - she is the biggest. She has dark brown eyes whereas the others have hazel eyes. Her comb has black flecks in it and is slightly floppy. Will her eggs become normal? We have eaten them and they are fine but just look a bit bizarre. Help! Egluntyne
You posted it **here**...in the Chickens section. I replied as I loved the name Eggatha Christie.

Olly
Welcome, nicnoc! One of my Gingernuts lays long, thin pointy eggs. She always has done - they are a totally different shape to the other girls' eggs (makes it easy to work out who has laid!) Clearly her egg-undercarriage is a different shape to theirs. That's the joy of having your own chickens - eggs come out lumpy, with freckles on, 'pebble-dashed', round, pointy, pale, dark - but they all taste yummy! If it's got a fully-formed shell, then I wouldn't worry (although the pointy ones are hard to fit in an egg-cup!)
Willow
Our Miss Pepperpot lays large eggs that are rounded one end, then straight sided for a bit and finish in a point ! The problem is only that commercially the funny shaped eggs are not sold direct so we get used to unifrom eggs I wonder where the odd shaped eggs go for commercial flocks - anyone know ? Presumably prepared foods/catering ?
Egluntyne
They go to the catering industry apparently.
nicnoc
thanks for all your replies. Since I wrote this, Tracy's eggs are now the same nice brown colour - but still long and thin. I will stop worrying about them and enjoy them. Thanks to all who replied and gave me peace of mind.

Abbey Road Girl
It is great that there is eggceptance for eggcentricity! Bless 'em, the long and the short and the tall...
chickencam
We can clearly tell the difference between the eggs that our 2 Pepperpots lay, one small and 'egg' shaped and one large darker and round. The hens themselves look very different too. One looks like the classic picture of a Pepperpot with a brown ruff and darker body the other is taller and almost black with a comb that is largely black too. Don't worry it is nice to be able to tell who is laying which eggs. Enjoy your girls and welcome to the forum
