Ange1
Hi, I know all about the floating/sinking egg test thing, but just wondering if I give eggs to people at work, what dates should I put on the box, eat by or best before. I have a feeling I've read somewhere it's something like 3 weeks after they've been laid is this right?!
..lay a little egg for me
I've read 28 days...
Steph101
We eat ours as soon as possible, or give them away straight way. The freshness is one of the main things that sets them apart from shop bought eggs after all.
Hen Watch
They will keep 28 days from date of lay. I keep mine on an Eggskelter (courtesy of Freddie on this forum) and not in the fridge.

Abbey Road Girl
Because I wasn't as well organised as I'd planned to be, I found that eggs that were laid at the end of May were still passing the float test at the beginning of July. They had been kept at room temp in my cool kitchen. Keep in mind that raw eggs can be frozen (separated, whole or scrambled slightly) with a quarter teaspoon of salt or sugar (and labelled thusly so you will know whether to use them for sweet or savory dishes). Please correct me, eggsperts, if I'm wrong!
