Ideas of what to use in run now that all the grass has gone.

Recommended Posts

Hello. Had the girls just over 4 weeks now, and the grass in the run in almost none existant. We knew this would happen, so thought we would just let them enjoy the grass whilst it was there. Just thinking about what to get to put in the run. I have heard people talk about hemcore, aubiose, wood chippings, bark etc. What other options are there? The place where we got one of the girls from said sand. Does anyone else use this? Also how often will the run then need completely raked? Obviously it will be poo picked daily as usual. Thank you for your help.

Hi Peachy,

I use Aubiose. I get it from a place just up the road from me.

I am away this weekend but could pop in and get some the weekend of the 2/3 August and drop it in when I take the dog to my mum's if you want.

Let me know if you want me to do that. :D

Thanks Lisa - where that then? How much is it and how long does it last etc. Have seen a thread about putting some kick boards up, so may do that in the next couple of days. How often does it need replacing? Have done the door conversion now to!

The place is on the Bedford Road going out of Hitchin. There is a big sign on the left advertising animal bedding and feed. It is just off the main road.

I think it was about £8.00 (but I can't really remember as I also bought food & limestone flour from them)

You will only need to clean it out every few weeks.
