Apologies if this has been asked elsewhere. I type in a keyword in the search and frequently get a negative response from my keyword search ie NO response.

What do people use to clean their coops? I am getting a wooden coop (sorry sorry sorry Omlet people. Yes I am jealous of lovely Eglu owners) and wondered what is best for cleaning. I am getting poultry shield fluid which I will use each time to ensure it is a mite-free zone, but is there a chicken-friendly disinfectant or cleaner people use beforehand to get rid of the majority of muck before using Poultry Shield?

And do people find sponges or brushes better?

In a nutshell, what's yer cleaning routine and frequency?

Thanks!

we have a wooden coop, once a month it gets dismantled and scrubbed with poultry shield. DH just dilutes it in a bucket of hot water as per the instructions. When it's dry, red mite powder and stalosan F sprinkled around and then fresh aubiose on top.

i think DH uses one of those dish sponges that has a sponge side and a rough side.

Hi there, I have a cube so not quite the same but I basically use a wire scrubbing brush to brush it out once a week, then when it gets really minging I take it apart and scrub the roosting bars which are wooden again with the wire brush then when it's dry I just sprinkle the whole thing with red mite powder, put fresh stuff in the trays and nest and bobs your bloomin uncle
