getting impatient!

Recommended Posts

I check the run, house and nesting area every day but still no eggs from my hens! arrived 5.7.08 from omlet, I know I'm getting impatient but I keep reading stories of people getting eggs after just 1 week-are mine too traumatised by my daughter picking them up? All I seem to do is clean up poo with no reward!

Are you girls from Omlet?

We found that our Pepperpots were much older than the two Gingernuts, so much so that both Pepperpots are laying only 10 days after getting them, however, both Gingernuts look as if they are still many weeks off laying.

If all your are Gingernut Rangers then this could explain the long wait.

thanks folks, they are ginger nut rangers and have been crouching for a few days now but they are not keen on the pellets and try to eat everything but! including a poor frog they found and fought over yesterday! I think they will probably wait until we are away at the weekend

Got mine on 7th July from Omlet (not my amber star which came from a farm). As you say, my gingernut looks a lot younger than my pepperpot who is the one interested in the nest box today....

Crouching is good - should be any day now, one of my pepperpots crouched for the first time yesterday and today she honoured us with her first egg, so fingers crossed you get one before the weekend :D

With regards to the pellets, I have found the same with mine, I just keep them in the run until about 11am to make sure they eat some before they free range, but even so, they don't seem to be eating many :?

My pepperpot crouched for a week or so before laying. Then Flo, a gingernut crouched for a couple of days then layed. Poor old Ginger isn't doing anything and still has quite small comb but has started to flush a little so think it will probably be another couple of weeks :D

after all that impatience my husband and delighted daughter found 1 warm egg in the nest box at about 10.00 weighing around 46g, perfectly formed with strong shell! we will try it later, We are now following them around the garden to see when and where the next egg will be

Hi

I got my four girls 2 weeks ago (not from omlet), I have 2 gold stars and 2 amber stars :D 1 of the gold stars, Mildred, laid an egg the next day and has laid everyday since  The other gold looks like it will be anyday but the 2 ambers are a while off I think :?
