chicklit
I was in Pets at Home today stocking up with cat food when I noticed that they sell Dodson & Horrell layers pellets. On impulse I bought a bag as my bag of organic pellets is almost gone. Logic told me that it was best to buy it while I was there rather than having to drive quite a long way to buy the organic pellets. I have just mixed some new ones in with the old pellets and put them in the grub for the chooks. Fingers crossed that they eat them. They are free ranging at the moment so I will have to wait and see. If they like them I am tempted to keep on using them as they are quite a bit cheaper than the organic. Bit worried at the moment in case they don't eat them though. Brenda
quickcluck
You've got nothing to lose by trying them.......... cost has to come into everything at the moment..... I suspect that they wont be able to tell the difference and you'll worry over nothing
Hen Watch
I use Dodson & Horrel pellets and mine prefer them over the organic ones they were eating. They are not organic but they are GM free and a good make I think. You might want to mix a the last of your organic stuff in with the new stuff to ease them into the change though. chickenanne
I agree; might as well try them. It's not like their laced with antibiotics etc; I imagine very very few people only eat organic food?
MedusA
I switched to D&H pellets some time ago because they are cheaper and Vegetarian Society approved. My girls made the switch quite easily. I just mixed some old with the new for a while to make the switchover easier and it worked for me. Give it a go.
