clueless chick
one of my gingernut rangers has taken a great delight in flying. she can get over the netting we ordered from eglu and so we have clipped one of her wings. this afternoon she has been found outside the pen again, could only have flown, also she is the one who doesnt like to be held. The only way to get her back in is with soft voice and lots of food, which really upset the other 2 girls as the catch their heads in the netting to get at the food. Who said chickens are easy. ps have seen the attachment of Egg Lou, maybe thats the answer, when we go away soon. Where can I get one and how much. I'd do this the other way around. Give the ones on the right side of the netting the food and let the escapee either miss out or find her way back where she should be. She might think her side of the netting isn't so much fun if she misses out. Are they laying yet? I think they often spend less time trying to fly once they start to lay! I know all 3 of mine could jump the fence if they put their mind to it, but they all seem quite happy at ground level now.
clueless chick
Thanks Sandychick good idea. The chicken that is constantly escaping is the only chicken not to have laid. The other 2, Pearl and Dusty have become alot tamer since laying, Dusty is so tame she jumpedd on my arm while cleaning out the pen. I am thinking of extending the cube or putting up a permanent structure with the cube attatched, I have been looking at the pictures sent by other club members very inspiring. I am worried that when we go away(end of Sept) Rusty will cause problems with her need for space.
