Hi

I've been looking at second hand eglus. I've noticed one that has a damaged tray - the bit I think where the chickens lay? Looking at new eglus it looks like they have a small hole in the tray but the damanged one looks bigger. Does anyone know what this is for and if it would be a problem?

Also can anyone tell me how their eglus are doing? Do they last well?

Thanks

Eglus do last really well. My friend has one of the original mark 1 eglus and that is still in great condition after more than 3 years use.

There is a hole at the bottom of the nest box, I think it is for dranage. I saw the one on ebay with the bigger hole, it looked a little to me like something had tried to nibble its way into the eglu.

I've got an old mark 1 that I've borrowed, it had been sitting rotting in a yard for goodness knows how long but it's scrubbed up OK. It's a bit stained on the roof where mould had sort of grown in to the top but then as no one had been looking after it I guess that's no surprise. All the bits are still working, I'm quite impressed with it (and I want to keep it  )
