....and setting up a website, this is like speaking Swahili to me ie: completely foreign! I want to buy a domain name and set up a website to possibly, in the future, do a bit of selling. Can anyone point me in the direction of a good company to get one from? I just googled "domain name" and came up with THOUSANDS!!

It was recommended to me by a large global organisation and we have been very pleased with the service. It was the cheapest we could find but provides an excellent service. Easy to set up the website with guidelines and their help.

I agree, 1and1 have been good. Cost about £30 for the domain name and some webspace.

i got mine from telivo, think it was £20 for 2 years

Register the name with a holder then you can use any server you want! I use http://www.ukreg.com/ for domains very cheap I own about 40 domains and have used this site for years. 1and1 for hosting all the way they are very good! That is who i use to run all my sites including chicken-cam.com

I'm another 1and1 fan. I have a business hosting package with them and I seem to end up parking more and more sites for people on it!

 

The domains cost about £6 for 2 years for a .co.uk and same for 1 year for a .com.
