Redwing
I read on another forum that Eglus are often stolen, it was in a thread that was a bit weighted towards wooden hen houses so may have been a scare tactic! Has anyone had any problems with this at all? It hasnt put me off my purchase but a heads up of potential problems would be useful.
The Dogmother
I've only ever heard of it happening once; I wouldn't worry - they wouldn't be easy to nick.
madchickenlady
I would have thought that all coops were at equal risk of theft. They're not exactly easy to carry off under your arm, are they?
chickenanne
I guess they do have a relatively high resale value, and therefore potentially more attractive to steal; but most theft/burglaries are not carried out by, erm, highly organised and intelligent experts am not sure that this is so big a deal. Maybe - more likely to get nicked than some wooden coops but not that likely to be stolen at all.
Jules.
It would be quite hard for my cube to be nicked- we deliberately made the gap between the run & the shed so that the cube can't be wheeled out, it has to be carried out sideways. I never have cause to move it out of its place anyway, so it's no trouble to me.
Egluntyne
I have only ever heard of one being stolen......and that was a good while ago. They would have to dismantle it and it will be tricky to fit over bicycle handle bars.
