Tinkerbell
I only got my chickens early summer so have not experienced a winter with them yet. Do the chooks need any form of heating in the winter? I am very concerned that the iglu will not be warm enough for them in the winter. Does anyone give extra heating etc for their chooks in the winter thanks
Hen Watch
Nothing needed. They will be fine. The eglu is warm in winter and cool in summer. Their feathery duvets give them all the protection they need. Only precaution you need to take for winter is to get a run cover. The Omlet ones are OK but not brill IMO. So I have a shower curtain on top held down with bungee cords. In really filthy wet weather it a) keeps them dry and b) protects the ground from becoming a bog. Egluntyne
They will be fine in winter. One of the main selling points of the Eglu is that the double walled construction makes it warm in winter and cool in summer. You could use one of **these** if the temperature really plummets. chelsea
yes dont worry the eglu and cube are designed to be warm enough. Plus the chickens are well insulated with all those feathers.
