mostin
Just realised that I don't know what my little Dolly has been bred from. Can anybody tell me? I'm sure it's a really easy question to all you breeders out there.
Snowy
The Amber link is from a Rhode island Red male and either a white plymouth rock or white leghorn hen (can't fing out for definite the hen breed, sorry!)

We do want a fair supply of eggs, and I think the Amber Link look really pretty. Are they friendly? How well do they lay? Others in the frame are Black Rock or Sussex Star. Thanks Aggie
The Dogmother
They are great layers too Mostin.

Thanks Aggie My Amber Link is the friendliest of all my girls, in fact she's a bit of a floozy. She crouches if you so much as glance at her . When she first arrived she was very, very shy but she soon got over that, and will now jump on my knee for cuddles and raisins. She is what I call "my cuddle chicken". She has the most amazing feathers, that seem to self clean after she's had a dust/mud bath, unlike my light sussex who stays brown for a week . She lays really well, probably about 13 eggs every 14 days, but they are pale brown not white, if that's what you were hoping for. In case you haven't guessed, I highly recommend getting one
craftyhunnypie
I've got 2 Amber stars (same thing) & yes they are little fusspot floozies too. When we are cleaning the nest boxes in the shed, they are there panicking that they won't be as comfy for laying eggs & that you are invading their space. But they crouch like anything, love cuddles, are very nosey & follow you everywhere. I truly recommend them, along with black rocks. Aggienator
They all look gorgeous , but we only really have room for two and read somewhere that it is better to have two the same as they like the company of similar hens. Would you go for two Amber, two Black Rock, or one of each?
craftyhunnypie
One of each I would say! Emma.x
Aggienator
One of each I would say! Emma.x Thanks, I think that's what we'll do, unless they only have one or other breed when we get our Eglu, in which case we'll be guided by fate
mostin
I got one of each at the same time and it worked out fine. Good luck, and post the photos when you get them home please .
