koo2cat
HI everyone, Hetty, my naughty pecking hen, has this morning been re-homed at the Heronfield Centre Animal Rescue Centre. I put her in the cat carry case and she looked really beautiful. I felt very sad but in my heart of hearts I know it is the right thing to do. As soon as I let her free with all the other hens and cockerels she stood up to a big cockerel straight away by jumping on his back!! The other chickens didn't even seem to notice her! So on that basis I think she will be okay! I told them to call me if there were any problems as I would rather have her back than have her suffer in any way. At least the children and I can visit her regularly there. It is strange looking at the run at home now without her. Despite her bullying, I really loved her but I think she needs to be with a bigger flock and a cockerel. I hope this puts an end to all the pecking and the other hens grow their feathers back! Thank you all for your kind words and advice!
