Did anyone see the programme on TV last night where Anne Widdecombe took on the diet industry? It made for really interesting watching, particularly where she was visiting the US (apparently a UK size 8 is considered 'large' in one store), and also when she was interrogating the editor of NOW magazine, about using larger models and the woman tried to claim they did and then couldn't find any in her own magazine!

 

I actually really took to her watching this programme because she really didn't stand for any 'nonsense' and said it as she saw it. Oh and that 'extreme makeover' woman was simply ghastly!

Sorry to any US omleteers I dont mean to offend but I have spent extensive time in the states the majority of americans I saw or met (even US relatives) were lucky if they could claim one leg was a size 8

I saw a bit of it Claire. She doesn't stand for any eyewash does she? I loved the bit with the silly woman from the magazine who clearly didn't possess the necessary number of brain cells to argue with Ann Widdecombe. Good for her. I saw a bit of last week's too about teenage girls who regularly get drunk on street corners. Also good!

Ann W went to LA. Probably not the home of the 'average' american!

 

Mind you, in a lot of UK high street shops it's difficult to buy anything bigger than a 16.
