Crooked Chicken
I'm doing a boot sale on Sunday (5.30am start - yuk!!) Hate doing them (done 2 in the past), but a good way of getting rid of your junk I guess, and boy, after sorting out my garage and loft, have I got some junk!! Among the junk (actually my other halfs junk), I've found and box full of beer mats and a Sinclair Spectrum (all boxed up). Do you think these sort of things are worth anything - not lots I know - but more of a collectors thing, or should I just car boot them for a couple of quid? theherd123
I think the Sinclair Spectrum may be worth something - try some computer boffin sites on the net to get its going rate
Cinnamon
Sue,look on ebay to get a rough idea of prices on these things. If you have boot sales, why not sell on ebay - you certainly get more money for your stuff,& its a lot less bother too
Paola
Oooo the sinclair is a real blast from the past Ebay would prob be the best place for that.
One Man Banned
I too can vouch for flEaBAY clic "wesley's gone" on my signature. I would never have got the same figure for advertising locally and the listing cost is comparable to Auto Trader but I get a heck of a lot more exposure online through Ebay! Probably your best bet with the boxed up items as that's a better way to make sure that more people who are interested see it and hopefully bid! Guest
the last zx specrum to selk on ebay (on its own - ie without loads of games) went for £16 (plus £6 postage) - and attracted 11 bids - it ended this morning. There were several different bidders and it was won by a total newbie. there are a couple ending soon that will fetch about the same. beer mats are much more of a lottery - depends what you've got - but they don't sell for much on ebay - not even vintage 1950s mats... I'd take the beer mats to the boot sale and flog the spectrum on ebay. With beer mats - you might very well get an impulsive passer-by - whereas an ebay buyer will give it a lot more thought... Crooked Chicken
Thanks for all your thoughts. I think you're right, e-bay would be best for the Spectrum. I'm ashamed to say I'm a complete e-bay newbie - I signed on to it for the first time last night! I'll take the Spectrum to the car book and perhaps not drop below £10, if it doesnt sell, then put it on e-bay. Thanks
Crooked Chicken
Thought I'd tell you that the Spectrum went for £10 and the Beer Mats went for £6. Over two boot sales I made £240 - not bad huh for all my rubbish. The next day I took all my left over bits (8 sack loads) to the charity shop. Gradually getting clearer in the house - and it feels good to get rid of stuff. Have a good Sunday. X
