Jillus
I never realized the gentle hobby of dove keeping was going to be so stressful! But even now my OH is at B&Q buying lengths of 'fourbetwo' and other wooden things to make me a secure refuge for the doves. As they both sleep in the dove cote the aim is to transfer them and the eggs and nest at night when they are asleep and maybe they won't notice the move! Jillus
An update on the progress or lack of it on the baby dove front. The second lot of eggs failed to hatch and now the doves are on yet another egg. But with thick snow on the ground today and the temperature at below freezing I don't hold out any hope this time again. They are safely into a Fort Knox style enclosure now so will be safe from the sparrowhawk for the winter. I will get some more doves in the spring and maybe with a big enough flock will be able to maintain them next year.
