new chick
I've been looking at this link viewtopic.php?f=42&t=22559 But ... Are Daffodils poisonous? I have placed my chickens in a 25m2 fenced area, and I have quite a selection of Daffodils planted in this area. Never thought of this until I was planting some more a weekend Do I need to dig them up? Don't mind if they get eaten, but do not want to harm my girls. I think I aslo have English blue bells here as well NC Edited October 6, 2008 by Guest
new chick
Silly me, now got my glasses, and can see them on the list Happy digging to me at the week end. Is it the Blubs or the plant?? Before I start NC
Hen Watch
I have both in my garden and the girls ignore them. Well actually, I will rephrase that. The girls JUMP on them, so last year I had squashed daffodils. They never ate them.
Egluntyne
They are on the list, but my girls always ignore the daffodils. They seem to know instinctively if something will be bad for them.
Gamebird
My girls are enclosed in an area of our bluebell wood and although they have scratched the bulbs to the surface they are not interested in eating them. So I would presume the same applies to daffodils.
Busybird
I have lots of daffodils in my garden and last year the chickens ignored them. Then over the summer they liked to dust bathe in the flower beds under the shrubs. Now I have daffodil bulbs scattered all over my borders and wonder will I get any flowers in the spring My chickens are absolutely fine though so mustn't eat them
helenmb
My girls also ignor them too. Plus they excavated a bit where I had been digging that had some bulbs (various spring ones) and they also just ignored the bulbs too so think you should be ok. chickenanne
Same for me! If you plant them deeply enough then they'll still bloom but chickens won't be able to dig them up.
