My site was hacked!

Fortunately the hacker/hackers didn't do much damage, but it was rather scary.

 

Be careful if you own a website, make sure updates etc are up to date!

Oh how annoying for you What damage have they done? I hope you get back online again with the minimum amount of disruption. I've got my own website but wouldn't know what I was looking for to know if someone had hacked into it

It was very obvious that mine was hacked. My index page was changed to one saying 'Hacked By XYZ" Very annoying.

It's only that obvious if the hacker wants to show off. If they don't you may not notice anything. TBH even major sites don't always have sufficient security so mostly you should make sure you keep copies of your pages so you could restore them if necessary and do just as Fred suggests and check them out every so often. and ALWAYS run a firewall.

 

If you're technical and smart hacking would be really very easy.
