Florence
3 weeks ago got our three girls and right from the beginning one has seemed different from the others ,we have two speckledys and a blubelle, one of the speckledys and the bluebelle have been quite confident since first comming out of their house on day 2 the other took one more day, then after about a week we had a problem with a slightly blocked crop ,sorted that out after being given very strict instructions by breeder never to feed anything other than pellets and the occaisional handful of mixed corn, quite how you manage this if they free range I don't know. Last week ,a friend said she thought she had seen some worms ,I have not seen this,so have got some flubenvet and am starting that. She seems however quite happy in herself, then yesterday she laid an egg in the roosting area with no shell or very fragile shell(the others have been laying since we got them but I think we have only had a couple of eggs from her). But once again she seems fine and perky and is happy in the garden once I get back from work. /today got back and went to let them out until bed and she was already in the roosting area,it was a little late but the other two were out and about as usual.Should also mention that compared to the others she has very runny poo . Probably sounds neurotic but I am new to this and I seem to spend my life worrying about this hen, husband says she is just a bit moody and to stop worrying so much...should I? Egluntyne
The runny poo could be the Flubenvet doing its job. I would keep her on just pellets and water for a few days and see how she goes. If the squitts persist, I would add Bokashi bran to the pellets and give her a bit of probiotic yoghurt.
